Diese Aufnahme war bereits 2005 als "Live At The Laboratorium" unter der Blue Rose-Nummer BLU CD0382 erschienen, damals allerdings nur als CD+DVD-Set, wo die CD nur 15 Songs enthielt. Die nun vorliegende Ausgabe enthält erstmals die komplette Show als Doppel-CD mit allen 23 Stücken.

War schon das damals aktuelle Studioalbum von Chris Cacavas, "Self Taut", ein Schritt “back into the future” zum erdigen Gitarrenrock von vor 10-15 Jahren, als er mit seiner damaligen Combo Junkyard Love klassische Alben wie "Good Times", "Pale Blonde Hell" und "New Improved Pain" veröffentlichte, so ging das, was er auf der 2004er-Tour zum Album live präsentierte, noch einen Schritt weiter. Er nutzte die Möglichkeit, nach vielen Jahren wieder einmal mit “großer” Besetzung auftreten zu können, entsprechend aus: Cacavas spielte sowohl elektrische und akustische Gitarre als auch hin und wieder Keyboards, an einer weiteren E-Gitarre (und Lap Steel) Jason Victor von Steve Wynn’s “Miracle 3”, Jesse Wilder spielte eine weitere E-Gitarre sowohl die Keyboards, und Ed Kampwirth am Bass sowie Brandon Laws am Schlagzeug vervollständigten als Rhythmus Section die Quintettbesetzung.

Zwar standen die Stücke vom letzten Album "Self Taut" im Vordergrund, doch im Laufe der 2 Stunden-Show spielte die Band auch Songs von Cacavas’ zahlreichen älteren Alben wie “Pale Blonde Hell”, “California Into The Ocean”, “AWOL” oder “Big Joke”. Der Auftritt im rappelvollen “Laboratorium” in Stuttgart am 23. April 2004 war ein typisches Beispiel für ein echtes Cacavas-Konzert, dessen (Rock-) Stimmung live sehr gut eingefangen werden konnte. Das liegt sicher nicht zuletzt daran, dass nicht nur eine Doppel-CD mit dem kompletten Konzert und 23 Stücken als Zeuge dient, sondern - und vor allem - die Bonus-DVD mit weiteren ca. 45 Minuten und 8 Songs.

This album was originally released in 2004 as „Live At The Laboratorium“ with the Blue Rose catalog number BLU CD0382, back then on CD+DVD with only 15 songs from the set. This new edition for the first time contains the complete show on 2 CDs with all the 23 songs Cacavas had performed.

After the departure from Green On Red Chris Cacavas began the pursuit of his solo career. Almost 18 years later he released his ninth studio recording "Self Taut" on Blue Rose Records. As he had only moved to Germany his plan was to continue to record and tour with the band he’d put together in the States. The band consisted of Ed Kampwirth on bass, Brandon Laws on drums, and Jesse Wilder on guitar and keyboards. Jason Victor from Steve Wynn’s “Miracle 3” on lead guitar joined the band for the tour. It was the first time he ever played his songs live with a five piece band.

The 2 hour set included songs from Cacavas’ most recent album "Self Taut" as tunes from his previous albums like “Pale Blonde Hell”, “California Into The Ocean”, “AWOL”, or “Big Joke”. The show at a packed “Laboratorium” in Stuttgart, Germany on April 23, 2004 was a typical Chris Cacavas show, captured as it was – ROCKING!

The 3 disc set includes an two CD with 23 songs plus a DVD with another 8 songs and 43 minutes.
