The Dream Syndicate, eine der führenden Indie-Rock-Bands der 1980er Jahre, sind eine der meistverehrten Indie-Rock-Bands der Paisley Underground-Szene. Medicine Show ist das zweite Album der Band. Die Indie-Rock-Lieblinge waren die erste Band aus Paisley Underground, die bei einem Majorlabel unterschrieb, einen Mainstream-Rock-Produzenten engagierte, den Bassisten wechselte und Monate mit den Aufnahmen des Albums verbrachte – nachdem sie ihr Vorgängeralbum The Days of Wine and Roses in nur wenigen Stunden eingespielt hatten. Dieses neue Boxset zeigt, dass sie als Live-Band einfach der Hammer waren. Zum ersten Mal überhaupt ist die komplette WXRT-Radiosendung vom Original-Tonband enthalten. Dazu gibt es Proben- und Live-Mitschnitte von Kendra Smith, aufgenommen kurz vor ihrem Ausstieg. Es gehört alles zur Geschichte: frühe, primitive Versionen von Originalsongs, jede Menge Coverversionen, die die Band zu etwas Neuem verstümmelte, und eine Reise der Selbstfindung.
