Damn Girl

Nach dem völlig überraschenden Tod von Al Collins im Jahr 2021, Ehemann, Partner in Crime, Manager, Tourplaner, Bassist und weiteren „Jobs“ in Stacie’s Band The Al-Mighty 3, war für Stacie Collins nichts mehr wie zuvor. Sie zog von Nashville zurück nach Cleveland in Ohio zu ihrer Familie und beendete das Thema „Musik“ komplett. Als sie eine Anzeige der US-Airline Southwest sah, die Flugbegleiterinnen suchten, bewarb sie sich und wurde zu ihrer eigenen Überraschung genommen. Nach einer harten Ausbildung nahm sie ihren Dienst auf und unterhält seither mit großem Engagement, je nachdem, welche Fluggäste sie begrüßt, die Reisenden auch hin und wieder mit ihrer Mundharmonica. Darüber hinaus war an musikalische Aktivitäten nicht zu denken. Bis sie eine Einladung erhielt von Dan Baird, als Gast bei einer Show aufzutreten. Da fing das Feuer wieder an zu lodern und sie stand hin und wieder auf der Bühne, wenn auch nur für ein paar Songs.

Für 2026 hat Stacie ihren Job, den sie liebt, auf „Pause“ gestellt und nahm die Einladung von Warner Hodges an, ihn und seine Band auf der Europatour im Herbst zu begleiten. Nicht nur mit einigen Songs in Warner‘s Set, sondern im Vorprogramm mit Warner‘s Band als Unterstützung.

Die größte Überraschung ist jedoch, dass Stacie ein Album bei den Shows anbieten wird, das noch vor dem Tod von Al Collins mit der Al-Mighty 3-Band 2019 in Schweden aufgenommen worden und eigentlich für die Europatour 2021 zum Verkauf geplant war. Leider kam es anders, das Album „Damn Girl“, als CD und Vinyl erhältlich, liegt seither in Lagerräumen und wartet auf seine „Freilassung“. Wir freuen uns, dass wir sowohl die CD als auch das Vinyl exklusiv über den Blue Rose-Webshop anbieten können. Was erwartet uns auf „Damn Girl“? Klar ist schon nach den ersten Tönen des Openers „You Don’t Know Me“ – da wo Stacie Collins draufsteht, da ist auch Stacie Collins drin! Wie nicht anders zu erwarten, singt, schreit, gospelt sie sich die Seele aus dem Leib, bläst in ihre Blues Harp, dass es noch weit über den Mississippi hinaus schallt und so manchen Studiocrack vom Fach alt aussehen lässt. Bei allen 12 Songs waren Stacie und Al Collins beteiligt, die Hälfte hat Gitarrist Sudbury mitgeschrieben, bei „Down For The Count“ hat auch Göransson seine Duftmarke hinterlassen. Dass es sich dabei um einen knackigen Rocker handelt, dürfte keine Überraschung sein. Es ist mitnichten der einzige fetzige Track, erst die fünfte Nummer „Things I Meant To Say“ nimmt das Tempo herunter und zeigt, dass Collins/Collins auch wunderbare Balladen schreiben können. Ein Slow Song reicht dann aber auch, die weiteren Stücke lassen es dann wieder richtig krachen – Boogie Stomper oder nicht selten an die Cowpunk-Veteranen von Jason & The Scorchers erinnernde Country/Honkytonk-Rocker zeigen Stacie Collins und ihre Truppe AL-Mighty 3 auf dem Höhepunkt!

Natürlich wird es beide Formate auch bei den kommenden Shows von Stacie und den International All Stars um Warner E Hodges zu kaufen geben:

After the completely unexpected passing of Al Collins in 2021 - husband, partner in crime, manager, tour planner, bassist, and various other roles in Stacie's band, The Al-Mighty 3 - nothing was the same for Stacie Collins. She moved from Nashville back to Cleveland, Ohio, to be with her family, and completely turned her back on music. When she saw an advertisement from the US airline Southwest, which was looking for flight attendants, she applied and, to her own surprise, was hired. After rigorous training, she began her service and has since entertained passengers with great enthusiasm, occasionally playing her harmonica, depending on which passengers she greets. Beyond that, musical activities were out of the question. That is, until she received an invitation from Dan Baird to perform as a guest at one of his shows. That's when the fire was rekindled, and she occasionally took to the stage, even if only for a few songs.

For 2026, Stacie put her beloved job on hold and accepted Warner Hodges' invitation to join him and his band on their European tour that fall. She'll not only be performing some songs in Warner's set, but also opening for them with Warner's band.

The biggest surprise, however, is that Stacie will be offering an album at the shows that was recorded with the Al-Mighty 3 band in Sweden in 2019, before Al Collins' passing, and was originally planned for release during the 2021 European tour. Unfortunately, things didn't go as planned, and the album "Damn Girl," available on CD and vinyl, has been sitting in storage ever since, awaiting its release. We're delighted to be able to offer both the CD and vinyl exclusively through the Blue Rose webshop. What can we expect from "Damn Girl"? It's clear from the very first notes of the opener, "You Don't Know Me," where Stacie Collins' name is, Stacie Collins' voice is unmistakable! As expected, she sings, shouts, and gospels her heart out, blowing her blues harp with a sound that resonates far beyond the Mississippi and puts many a seasoned studio pro to shame. Stacie and Al Collins contributed to all 12 songs; guitarist Sudbury co-wrote half of them, and Göransson also left his mark on "Down For The Count." That this is a punchy rocker should come as no surprise. It's by no means the only high-energy track; only the fifth song, "Things I Meant To Say," slows the tempo and demonstrates that Collins/Collins can also write wonderful ballads. One slow song is enough, but the other tracks really let loose again – boogie stompers or country/honkytonk rockers reminiscent of the cowpunk veterans Jason & The Scorchers show Stacie Collins and her band AL-Mighty 3 at their peak!
