Seit mehr als vierzig Jahren kreieren The Jayhawks Musik, die den dauerhaften Geist und die Seele des klassischen amerikanischen Songwritings verkörpert. Die Jayhawks entstanden aus Minneapolis in der Post-Punk-Ära von The Replacements, Hüsker Dü und Soul Asylum. Sie haben die heutige Americana-Bewegung durch eine Reihe klassischer Alben Pionierarbeit geleistet, die Rock-Publikum in ihr einzigartiges musikalisches Eintopf aus Country, Folk, Soul, Britpop und Rock 'n' Roll eingeführt haben.
Die Band hat fast jedes große Musikfestival gespielt, von Farm Aid über Primavera Sound, Pinkpop bis Wilco's Sky Blue Sky. In der Tradition von The Band und Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers haben die Jayhawks mit vielen der bekanntesten Visionäre der Musik, darunter Ray Davies, Roger McGuinn und Johnny Cash, Touren und als Backup-Band dient.
Heute nehmen Gary Louris, Marc Perlman, Karen Grotberg und Tim OReagan weiterhin weltweit auf und touren weiter. Über 12 Studioalben und drei Live-Alben bauen The Jayhawks immer noch ein Erbe an Musik auf, das den Test der Zeit besteht.
Die Band hat sich erneut mit dem legendären Produzenten Bob Ezrin (Pink Floyd, Peter Gabriel, Lou Reed) zusammengetan, um ihr bevorstehendes Album mit dem Titel Sanctuary Park zu kreieren, das im Spätsommer 2026 veröffentlicht werden soll.

For more than forty years, The Jayhawks have created music that embodies the enduring spirit and soul of classic American songwriting. The Jayhawks emerged from Minneapolis in the post-punk era of The Replacements, Hüsker Dü and Soul Asylum. They pioneered today’s Americana movement through a series of classic albums that introduced rock audiences to their unique musical stew of country, folk, soul, Britpop and rock 'n' roll.
The band has played most every major music festival, from Farm Aid to Primavera Sound, Pinkpop to Wilco’s Sky Blue Sky. In the tradition of The Band and Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers, The Jayhawks have toured with and served as backup band for many of music’s most acclaimed visionaries, including Ray Davies, Roger McGuinn, and Johnny Cash.
Today, Gary Louris, Marc Perlman, Karen Grotberg and Tim O’Reagan continue to record and tour worldwide. Over 12 studio albums and three live albums, The Jayhawks are still building a legacy of music that stands the test of time. The band once again teamed up with legendary producer Bob Ezrin (Pink Floyd, Peter Gabriel, Lou Reed) to create their upcoming album entitled Sanctuary Park, set to be released late summer 2026.
