Clarks Texte sind pointiert, zutiefst persönlich, unverblümt und gesellschaftsbewusst, mit gelegentlichen Ausflügen in Rap und Spoken Word von Clark selbst. Der Sound ist eindringlich und geht in Richtung moderner, groove-orientierter Psychedelia mit Hip-Hop-getriebenen Beats in den Strophen, die hymnischen Refrains weichen, die reich an Powerchords und breiten Fuzz-Riffs sind.
»JPEG RAW« ist Clarks erstes Album seit dem von der Kritik gelobten »This Land« aus dem Jahr 2019, das zum dritten Mal in Folge in den Top 10 der Billboard 200 Charts landete und mit drei Grammy Awards ausgezeichnet wurde, darunter für den besten Rocksong und die beste Rockperformance (»This Land«) sowie für das beste zeitgenössische Bluesalbum (»This Land«). Clarks erster Grammy-Gewinn wurde 2014 für die beste traditionelle R&B-Performance (»Please Come Home«) verliehen.

Clark's lyrics are pointed, deeply personal, outspoken and socially conscious with occasional forays into rap and spoken word from Clark himself. The sonics are immersive verging on modern groove-oriented psychedelia with hip-hop driven beats in verses giving way to anthemic choruses, rich with power-chording and wide fuzz riffage.
