Silverada
Manchmal überraschen Bands mit schwer nachvollziehbaren Entscheidungen. So taten es Mike and The Moonpies, als sie ihren Namen in Silverada änderten. Denn hätte das eine Veränderung in ihrer Musik bedeutet, wäre das vielleicht verständlich gewesen. Doch das ist nicht passiert, obwohl die Band behauptete, hier beginne eine neue Ära. Musikalisch natürlich nicht. Mike Harmeier, Omar Oyoque, Catlin Rutherford, Zachary Moulton und Taylor Englert machen genau das weiter, was sie getan haben und was uns gefallen hat, abgesehen von minimalen Nuancen. Hier gibt es traditionellen amerikanischen Rock. Die Art, für die Leute wie Steve Earle den Weg geebnet haben. Ihre texanische Seele spiegelt sich wie nie zuvor in Songs wie „Stubborn Son“ und „Stay By My Side“ – purer Willie Nelson. Vielleicht zeigt nur „Eagle Rare“ eine gewisse Weiterentwicklung ihres Sounds, aber diese ist so gering, dass sie kaum wahrnehmbar ist. Trotzdem ein sehr gutes Album, das das von 2021 nicht übertrifft. In der Eröffnung von "Radio Wave" heißt es: "Americana ist ein Mythos." Das wird bei ihnen nicht der Fall sein.
Sometimes bands surprise you with decisions that are difficult to understand. That's what Mike and The Moonpies did when they changed their name to Silverada.. Because if that had meant some change in their music, it might be understandable. But that hasn't happened, even though the band claimed that a new stage was beginning here. Musically, of course not. Perhaps only "Eagle Rare" presents some evolution in their sound, but it is so slight that it is barely noticeable. Despite that, a very good album that, yes, does not surpass that One To grow from 2021. They say in the opening of "Radio Wave" that "Americana is a myth." It will not be in their case.
