Vielseitigkeit ist Trumpf! Das beweist einmal mehr und eindrucksvoll "Back To New York City" von Popa Chubby. In elf Liedern schlagen der US-amerikanische Gitarrist/Sänger aus dem Big Apple und sein Rhythmusduo stilistisch einen ganz großen Bogen. Vom Boogie-Shuffle zu Südstaatenrockern, punkigem Rock'n'Roll, Midtempo-Blues, griffige Riff-Rocker sowie feinstem Funk. Herausragendes Stück ist das radiotaugliche "The Future", eine Coverversion der gleichnamigen Leonard-Cohen-Komposition. Alles in allem ist Popa Chubby (* 31. März 1960) sein 19. Studio-Album (als CD- und Vinylpressung erhältlich) seit 1990 äußerst abwechslungsreich gelungen. Es reiht sich eine Überraschung an die andere und bietet so beste Unterhaltung.
