Rufus Wainwright veröffentlicht bei Decca sein sehnsüchtig erwartetes neues Album "Out Of The Game", das von Mark Ronson (Amy Winehouse / Adele u.a.) produziert wurde. Es ist das siebte Studioalbum des vielleicht besten, sicher aber vielseitigsten Songwriters der Gegenwart. "Es ist das poppigste Album, das ich je gemacht habe", sagt Rufus, während Mark Ronson meint: "Es ist das beste Album meiner Karriere." Dass beide Recht haben, bestätigt jeder einzelne Track dieses Albums. Letzten Herbst in New York aufgenommen, funkeln und glitzern die zwölf Nummern wie musikalische Kronjuwelen. Die Songs des neuen Albums gehören zweifellos zu den besten, die Rufus Wainwright im Laufe seiner Karriere aufgenommen hat: angefangen beim fulminanten Titelsong über den Gospel-gefärbten Rock von "Jericho" und die schiere Schönheit von "Sometimes You Need" bis zum emotionalen "Candles".

Influences, as ever, were all encompassing.
