Odeon Budokan

„Odeon Budokan“ wurde ursprünglich 1976 an zwei Veranstaltungsorten im Ausland aufgenommen – Hammersmith Odeon in London und Nippon Budokan Hall in Tokio. Das zehn Titel umfassende Album enthält atemberaubende Auftritte von Neil Young mit Crazy Horse auf dem Höhepunkt ihrer gemeinsamen Kräfte und enthält die Fanfavoriten „Cowgirl In The Sand“, „Lotta Love“ und „Cortez The Killer“. Die Titel auf Seite 1 wurden am 31. März 1976 in London aufgenommen und enthalten Youngs Solo-Set aus der ersten Hälfte der Show auf Gitarre und Klavier. Die Tracks auf Seite 2 wurden ein paar Wochen zuvor, am 11. März 1976, aufgenommen und zeigen Young mit The Horse in voller elektrischer Pracht. Dies ist die erste offizielle Vinyl-Veröffentlichung des bisher unveröffentlichten Albums Odeon Budokan, da das Album nur auf CD als Teil der Young’s Archives Volume II-Sammlung erhältlich war, im Jahr 2020 veröffentlicht wurde und in makelloser Klangtreue präsentiert wird, als wäre es gestern aufgenommen worden.

"Odeon Budokan" was originally recorded in 1976 at two overseas venues — Hammersmith Odeon in London and Nippon Budokan Hall in Tokyo. Tthe ten-track album includes blistering performances from Neil Young with Crazy Horse at the height of their collective powers and includes fan favorites “Cowgirl In The Sand” “Lotta Love,” and “Cortez The Killer.” Tracks on Side 1 were recorded in London March 31, ‘’76 and feature Young’s solo set from first half of the show on guitar and piano. Side 2 tracks were recorded a couple weeks earlier on March 11, ’76 and feature Young with The Horse in full electric glory. This is the first official vinyl release of previously unissued Odeon Budokan, as the album was only available on CD as part of Young’s Archives Volume II collection, released in 2020 and presented in pristine audio fidelity as if recorded yesterday.
