The Unraveling

Aufgenommen im September 2018 im legendären Sam Phillips Recording Studio in Memphis mit Grammy-Gewinner Matt Ross-Spang (Jason Isbell, Margo Price) und David Barbe, handelt es sich bei “The Unraveling” um das mittlerweile zwölfte Studioalbum in der 23-jährigen Karriere der Band aus Athens, GA. Drei Jahre sind seit der Veröffentlichung ihres letzten Albums “American Band” vergangen. Eine Pause die Patterson Hood und Mike Cooley, ebenfalls Gründungsmitglied und Frontmann Nr. 2, damit verbrachten, die chaotischen Zustände in ihrem Heimatland zu verstehen und zu verarbeiten. So sind daraus besonders persönliche Stücke entstanden. Unter den Gästen u.a. Patti King (The Shins), Kyleen King und Cody Dickinson (North Mississippi All-Stars).

Drive-By Truckers is kicking off the new election year with The Unraveling, their first new album in 3 1/2 years (the longest space between a new DBT albums ever). Those years were among the most tumultuous our country has ever seen and the duality between the generally positive state of affairs within the band and the turbulent world outside (or as Patterson Hood puts it: "watching so many things we care about be decimated and destroyed") informed the writing of this album to the core.
